Goldroom – Verano Mix 2015
Goldroom’s widely popular season themed mixes are anticipated year around, by many; always toting appropriately curated playlists to reflect the mood expressed. This time, with summer winding down; getting ready for the transition into fall.
“We’re closer to sunset than sunrise, the last rays of summer’s sun casting the long shadows once again. We can sprint to save the day, but those shadows only get taller. Autumn is on the way, and the long afternoons that felt like dreams soon will be just that. But there’s something beautiful about this time of year, when the sun is till here to bake you, but the heat feels a bit more urgent than lazy. Something is around the corner. Something big is coming.”
His Otana 2014 mix went to #1 on Hype Machine; the very first time a mix had accomplished such a feat. Starting off the mix with one of his own “Slow Wash”, he goes on a tear, following with Classixx, Moon Boots and (a secret canadian friend), JackLNDN and Lane 8 just in the first half with RUFUS DEL SOL, Gigamesh, Bag Raiders and a few more originals and remixes from Josh himself. Overall, a very solid mix that has already found it’s way into this writer’s rotation twice today. You can tell he put a lot of thought and love into this 57 minute adventure into the sunset.
He had this to say about Verano Mix 2015:
“I spend entirely too much time on these mixes, and I’m sorry its been so long since my last one. I was a bit paralyzed by something that kept me from actually sitting down to make one. I don’t know if maybe my tastes are changing, or if I was feeling some weight, but I really put this one off. I’m so glad that I felt the need again last week. An interesting side note is that I didn’t use a single remix in this mix (except for one of my own). I’m not sure why or how that happened, but I know its pretty odd. Maybe my tastes are really changing?”
