Monstercat 024 – Vanguard

When Monstercat rolls out a complication album we get really excited. In this 24th installment, this new album, Vanguard, once again showcases the wealth of talent that we have come to expect from one of the best indie labels in the game.

One of the biggest albums to date, Vanguard has a whopping 32 tracks (that’s a whole lot of music). When you get the time, we highly urge you to kick back and listen start to finish, but until then, we at EDMTunes have hand picked out top five favorites that are must-listen tracks. Check out our favorites below and be sure to grab Vanguard on iTunes today.

1) Nigel Good – No Way Back Up (feat. Illuminor):

When Nigel dropped his artist album a couple weeks back, it was some of the best music we’ve heard in a while. The album is so good in fact, that two of Nigel’s tracks landed a place on Vanguard. This track here truly shows you how good Nigel is and between the grooving bass line and the massive atmospheres, it really is an exquisite piece of music.

2) Rameses B – Faster Than Light (feat. Danyka Nadeau):

Rameses B is one of the most talented producers on Monstercat’s roster. Just when you think he can’t crank out a song better than his latest production, he breaks all boundaries and pushes the limits of what it means to be a producer. His track “Faster Than Light” landed a place on this album and it is no exception. A fine mix or melodies and dub-heavy bass lines makes this track a keeper.

3) Summer Was Fun – Run To You (feat. Meron Ryan):

Having not heard too much from this artist, I was excited to see that this track landed a spot on the album. Within seconds of hitting play, I was blown away. The loud and front-facing drums almost make you feel like you’re in front of a live rock band, as they slam and jam their way against the massive melodies and uplifting vocal lines of Meron Ryan.

4) Pegboard Nerds – Pink Cloud (feat. Max Collins):

No Monstercat album would be complete without a Pegboard Nerds track. Some of the most seasoned veterans among the Monstercat family, watching these two guys’ sound evolve over the years has been extraordinary. This latest track is a bit on the lighter side, which is to say it still stands as an explosive tune. . . just devoid of the Nerd’s signature grizzle.

5) Grabbitz – Ballin’:

Monstercat has always been known for its wide range of styles that they release and nothing would make this more evident than this jam. A bass heavy tune with the swagger to match, this “Ballin'” lays it down with style. Anything from hands-up vocal lines to gnarly low end sound design, this production keeps the energy up from start to finish.
