“Lean On” Becomes The Most Streamed Song On Spotify

The way this track rose through the ranks this year has been truly remarkable. Peaking at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100 and at number two on the UK Singles Chart, “Lean On”, coming from Major Lazer‘s latest album Peace is the Mission, also reached number one in a slew of other countries including Australia, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Denmark and Switzerland. In September 2015, “Lean On” was also named by streaming giant Spotify as the most streamed song globally of the entire summer.

It doesn’t stop there. Today, DJ Snake and Major Lazer made separate posts, boasting that their collaboration with MØ officially became the top recipient of plays ever on the streaming service. That beats out Calvin Harris, Avicii, Daft Punk and some other very prominent artists like Ed Shereen, whom previously held the record. Even if you didn’t like “Lean On”, you have to admit that this is a huge accomplishment for both the artists as well as electronic music as a whole.
