Verboten has been stealing headlines as of late, as it was seized by the Department of Taxation & Finance at the end of March due to owners evading roughly $360,000 in taxes and was then forced file for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Well, here it is again, and the news only continues to worsen.
Jen Schiffer, who owns half of Verboten along with her husband John Perez, was arrested in Greenpoint by the NYPD on April 7 for writing fraudulent checks – five of them, amounting to $31,000. Schiffer and Perez have also recently been named in a lawsuit that claims Schiffer not only sexually harassed employees, but also stole their tips and withheld wages from them, along with numerous other claims.
Though the club owners have expressed their intents in keeping the club open and have many shows planned, the ongoing troubles they are facing may change that. Stay tuned for updates.
