The Gorillaz took to social media on Thursday to announce their official tour openers for their upcoming North American Humanz tour. For their support, the group chose rappers and collaborators Vince Staples and Danny Brown to play alongside them on certain dates of the tour.
Staples appears on the opening track of the new album, ‘Ascension’ lending his old school style hip-hop to the track. Brown is also featured on the album on an upbeat, high energy track titled ‘Submission’. There, his unique voice offers a proper contrast with the soothing voice of Kelela.
Both rappers were featured on the new Gorillaz album, ‘Humanz’ and have already been announced as support for the Demon Dayz Festival on June 10th, which is the Gorillaz own festival. Both artists can be seen at various shows throughout the tour with a few lucky stops getting both of them.
Staples’ first date on the tour will be on July 10th at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Meanwhile, Brown’s first date will be on July 17th at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Washington D.C. Gorillaz have several festival dates lined up including Outside Lands, III Points and Austin City Limits.
In addition, a handful of the dates have neither of the rappers opening meaning there could still be an additional announcement about other openers being added. Check out the flyer below to find out if Danny Brown and Vince Staples will be coming to your stop of the Humanz tour starting this July.
