The Chainsmokers, made up of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pal, are the famous American DJ and producer duo that has been smashing the charts with their radio hit singles. They’re known for combining elements of pop, indie and even rock with their “dance” productions. They first came to fame in 2014 with their single “#Selfie” and then went on to release successive hits such as “Roses”, “Don’t Let Me Down”– which won a Grammy Award for the Best Dance Record at the 59th awards ceremony- and “Closer”, just to name a few.
Despite their monstrous success in the radio and pop infused dance world, The Chainsmokers aren’t exactly respected by many in EDM community, so it comes with great relief that their record Something Just Like This is no longer in the Top 10. This means that their 61-week long streak on the Billboard Hot 100 chart has finally come to an end. Their record is second only to Katy Perry who held a 69-week long reign in the Top 10. Time will only tell if they return to that top spot again.
