Armin van Buuren dropped a Valentine’s Day gift to fans on Friday—the third batch of remixes of his new album, Balance. He and his record label Armada Music had been teasing it on social media for days and based on the artists involved, it promised to be a pretty sweet package.

Unlike the first two remix series released in January and earlier this month, Armin looks to producers he collaborated with in Balance for two of the four tracks in the latest installment.

Remixes From Familiar Faces

Armin’s uplifting hardstyle track ‘Don’t Let Me Go‘ with Matluck gets remixed by duo Lucas & Steve, who collaborated with him on ‘Don’t Give Up On Me.’ The original ‘Don’t Let Me Go,’ with a beautiful piano opening and buildup to a refreshing hardstyle drop, is difficult to beat.

Lucas & Steve took the right path in offering something completely different, doing what they do best. That feel-good electro house drops as heard in their tracks ‘Say Something‘ and ‘Long Way Home.’ It’s the perfect twist for Armin fans who aren’t into hardstyle. The remix also highlights Matluck’s vocals, which compete with various delightful layers of sound in the original track.

Another now-familiar name in Balance (Remixes, Pt. 3) is Avian Grays, who co-produced one of the most beloved tracks on Armin’s seventh studio album, ‘Something Real.’ Grays reworks the trance track ‘Miles Away‘ by adding more of a big room feel that gives it a bit of a wider appeal.

Remixes From The Unexpected

Sometimes, an unlikely pairing actually flows. Will Sparks somehow blends his signature Melbourne Bounce sound with HALIENE‘s angelic voice in ‘Song I Sing,’ creating a track well-suited for shows and festivals.

The cream of the crop, however, is Sevenn‘s remix of Armin and Tempo Giusto‘s ‘Mr. Navigator.’ The track already got a techno treatment from i_o in Balance (Remixes, Pt. 1), but this is a great alternative. Sevenn, who teamed up with Tiësto for ‘BOOM,‘ incorporates a hint of sound from that blockbuster hit into ‘Mr. Navigator’ and enhances the track overall. The buildup is bigger and the drop deeper, resulting in a darker, more adventurous vibe.

Are remixes part four and on coming? With a double album and 24 tracks to work with—and Armin’s own remixes still unseen—we’re going to guess yes.
