Anjunabeats Elevation in Avoriaz and Lollapalooza Chile and Argentina are the next to be taken down by the coronavirus (COVID-19). Earlier in the week, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially labeled the outbreak as a pandemic.
No, this isn’t deja-vu. We’re just as sad to be bringing you this news amongst the others as you are to be reading it. These cancellations come behind the long line of events to be taken down in recent weeks. Due to Government imposed regulations, inaugural and highly anticipated events such as SXSW, Coachella, Ultra Music Festival Miami, Winter Music Conference, BeyondWonderland Socal and Miami Music Week (MMW) have been postponed or delayed. Live Nation has paused all tours, both domestic and international. Even the famous and infamous Berghain is ceasing all ‘self-produced events’ until the 20th of April. Our current glimmer of hope is EDC Las Vegas.
The global entertainment industry has also taken heavy hits. The English Premier League Soccer, the N.B.A, Cricket and the F1 have all suspended or canceled their season or matches this week. The impact has been so immense that live entertainment competitors have formed an alliance to collectively coordinate a response.
While our fingers and toes are crossed for remaining events, health and safety still are, and always will be, the utmost priority.
