We all knew it was coming. We tried to ignore the signs, but eventually, it happened. EDC Mexico 2021 has been postponed. One of the world’s best-rated EDM festivals has been delayed. After Insomniac announced that the latest edition would take place in April of this year, many were skeptical. Others decided to buy their tickets. Now, they’ll all have to wait until the second half of the year, most likely until next year to attend this event.

EDC Mexico Postponed

It didn’t take long before the announcement went viral. You can read the offical statement translated below.

“During the last months, the team responsible for Electric Daisy Carnival Mexico has been working on a plan that allows us to produce a safe event for you. Unfortunately, due to the global situation, we will not be able to carry out our festival on its initial dates. That is why we officially postpone EDCMéxico to the second semester of this year, its new dates being September 3, 4 and 5, 2021. After taking the necessary time and exhausting all possible options, we are sure that this is the best decision. Please be assured that we will continue to work tirelessly together with the local authorities so that our festival happens in a timely manner. Remember that all tickets will be valid for the new dates; it is not necessary to change your tickets. For all the team that EDC Mexico possible, the safety of our Headliners is and will be our priority. We can’t wait to see each other in 2021 and create wonderful new memories with you. Until then, stay safe and let’s take care of each other. “

While expected, this are still sad news. Certainly, more than one hoped EDC Mexico would take place on April 2021. The truth is, not a singe country has advanced enough on their vaccination campaigns to be able to hold such a massive event, much less Mexico. The latest reports indicate that the number of vaccinated citizens stands somewhere around 100,000 people. In a country of 126,000,000 people, that number is just ridiculous. In order for EDC Mexico to take place, you need at least 70% of the population to be vaccinated.

What Should I Do?

If you can afford to buy your EDC tickets without risking your financial security, go ahead. At the end of the day, this is the only way to keep live events’ companies afloat. But keep in mind that EDC Mexico’s not likely to take place in 2021. The situation is too complicated. There’s no proper infrastructure to handle the vaccination process and this will definitely slow the process down. Plan according to this, and make sure to stay tuned to get all the latest news regarding EDC Mexico. Hopefully, we’ll see each other on 2022, and finally dance under the electric sky. Meanwhile, make sure to stay safe!
