ANNA – Portable Paradise – Drumcode 195
Out now is a fantastic techno track by the lovely ANNA titled ‘Portable Paradise‘. It is part of the seventh volume of Drumcode’s annual A-Sides compilation. With no less than 10 debuts for the label, it includes Charlotte de Witte, B.Traits, Scuba’s SCB project plus much more. Being among the collection of top notch artists to release their maiden productions on the imprint is a great achievement.
The track showcases outstanding all-around talent. It kicks off the compilation with a pulsating cut that sets the tone for rest of the top-shelf club tracks to follow. Deep vibes and darkness fill this tune. There is lots of kick drum action that Adam Beyer would be proud of. The snazzy clap, synths, and snare on the backbeat propel you forward. The open little bell sound in between give you that hint of “paradise” feel. It is 6 minutes of highly prized fun.
For over two decades, Drumcode evolves and excels in pushing techno forward while remaining wholly respectful of its roots. At the inaugural festival at the NDSM Docklands in Amsterdam, their reputation furthered that goal. It featured heavyweights Nicole Moudaber, Joseph Capriati, Amelie Lens and many others.
Remember, the A-Sides compilation provides a timely opportunity to showcase a full range of its sonic repertoire. Beyer meticulously selected 22 unreleased tracks for this and have positioned them in his recent sets over the past few months. Have you noticed?
