Genix has just released his latest track, a rework of the 2019 trance product ‘Stay‘, from Grum. A dedicated artist whose discography spans well over a hundred singles and remixes, the prolific producer was already featured on the same compilation of Anjunabeats earlier this Fall. In the case of Grum – Stay (Remix), Genix offers his rework of what was, already, an incredible track.
‘Stay‘ by Grum was released earlier this year. The Scottsman is a regular feature of Anjunabeats, and over the years, has worked his way from synth wave to more progressive versions of trance.
The original version remained true to its label, and saw a feature on Anjunabeats Volume 14 from Above & Beyond. It provided a profound bassline and repetitive synths. It stands out from the rest, however, with the powerful breakdown midway through, making it all the more magnanimous.
The vocals are hazy and dream-like, suiting the overall vibe perfectly. A poignant love declaration at the crepuscule of a relationship, the femininity of it is a splendid midnight melody.
The remix is a different affair. Retaining much of the melody, as well as the entirety of the vocals, Genix plays on the layers of the original version. There is a more sour feeling, with stronger beats and an acidic melody.
That is not to say the essence from Grum’s version is lost, on the contrary: if the first is best suited for midnight dancers, the second will reward any 4 AM raver.
