‘Plastikman’ has returned. Techno legend Richie Hawtin’s famed alias has seen the light of day again at the Milan Fashion Week. 12 minute long ‘Sin Thetik’ is the latest of Plastikman’s offering. It also features an ambient version spanning across 20 minutes.
The British-Candian DJ has been long associated with this moniker of his, dating back to almost 1993. After various albums, tracks and EPs ranging over the last 2 decades, Hawtin had temporarily distanced himself from it. 2015 saw Plastikman’s last track as a part of his From My Mind To Yours LP.
Italian fashion house Prada had roped in Plastikman to soundtrack their Women’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection on the catwalk. It sees a return after a long hiatus of a moniker that has embraced multiple memorable tours and performances over the years. Hope this comeback of sorts motivates Hawtin to come up with more Plastikman material in the near future.
