New York could be a step closer to the much-awaited reopening of major venues. With that, live events could start taking place following the government’s new rules. Governor Cuomo is planning to allow areas and stadiums statewide to reopen at a limited capacity as of February 23.

Amongst the major venues that will reopen later this month, we can find Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden and Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

“The truth is, we cannot stay closed until everyone is vaccinated. The economic, psychological, emotional cost would be incredible.”

Although these venues will reopen, they will suffer drastic reductions in capacity. For the partial reopening, the New York governor announced a 10% capacity limitation. Moreover, these places will have socially distanced assigned seating. On top of that, if you want to visit these places you will need proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken 72 hours prior to the event. There will also be temperature screenings below 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, and mandatory face coverings. Despite being less contagious, vaccinated attendees will not be exempt from the negative COVID test requirement.

New York’s Largest Venues Have Yet To Announce Any Events

At the moment, Neither Madison Square Garden nor Barclays Center confirmed upcoming concerts for their agendas. But hopefully, they will resume their activity with wonderful shows very soon. This slow progress back to normality will bring back sporting events, hosting for home teams including Knicks, Rangers, and Nets games. As the capacity of the venues is very limited, with only 2,000 seats available per arena, it will not be easy to get your hands on a ticket. Ticket holders and suite members will have priority when purchasing tickets.

As vaccines keep going forward, large events are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
