Starting June 18, outdoor dance events of up to 250 people will be allowed in Berlin clubs. The city is ready to ease restrictions on nightclubs and bars. The decision comes after several successful trial events in the past few weeks. Moreover, attendees will have to provide a negative COVID-19 test and wear FFP2-masks on the dancefloor. It is worth noting that physical contacts are still restricted. No more than ten people from five different households will be able to attend an event together.

Even though some clubs reopened briefly last summer, some of them have been closed since the beginning of the pandemic. However, outside of Berlin, outdoor dance events of up to 1,000 people can take place without restrictions. The federal state’s prime minister announced the decision on June 15th. Indoor events are permitted, but with strict restrictions. Everyone attending will require masks and additional testing and ”no more than one guest per ten square meters” will be allowed.

Berlin will also loosen some other restrictions in the upcoming days. The mandatory mask in busy outdoor areas is going to disappear. Also, the midnight-to-5 AM alcohol ban in pubs and restaurants will come to an end.

In the course of the week, the 50 percent mark for first-time vaccinations will be cracked in Germany, said Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn. By the end of July, every adult who wants to be vaccinated should be offered vaccination. The second vaccination is more important than some people think for Berlin. As a matter of fact, it protects against the delta variant of the coronavirus. About 49% of the population now have the first vaccination and 28% have received the second dose. Things are trending in the right direction.
