Niles Rodgers has been a part of dance music for decades. His discography ranges from Madonna’s classic “Like a Virgin” and The B-52’s hit “Love Shack,” to the guitar work in Daft Punk’s summer hit “Get Lucky.” Recently, Dubspot had the opportunity to sit down with the living legend for an interview.
Rodgers goes to state that he grew up solely as a jazz musician, and a self-proclaimed “Jazz Snob.” It was not until a music teacher of his put him in his place, did he begin to open his mind to other genres of music in order to “Get in tune with what you really feel. Because the truth in that lesson was, I didn’t know who I was. The same [dance] music that I was dissing, was really the music that I loved. That’s the music that opened my mind.”
