The 808 documentary is set to be released this spring. The film is about the birth of electronic music and the Roland TR-808. By accident, the small drum machine changed the sound of modern music and revolutionized the way music was made.
The documentary is a joint venture between Atlantic Films (owned by Atlantic Records) and You Know Films. They recently revealed that 808 will be available exclusively on Apple Music and iTunes. Atlantic Records’ CEO said, “…the Apple Music audience is a perfect fit for this compelling film.” If you enjoy a movie theatre experience, there will be showings at select cinemas across the United States.
Music moguls are featured and share their thoughts about how the Roland 808 impacted the music industry. Guest appearances include: Fatboy Slim, Diplo, David Guetta, Damon Albarn, Felix da Housecat, Tiga, Goldie, Phil Collins, Pharrell Williams, Quest Love, Lil’ Jon, and many more.
